DESCRIPTION OF MEETINGS AND PARTICIPANT INFORMATION
Broadening Participation in Computing
Access Grid Meeting was held on March 15, 2006.

The NSF Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications held an Access Grid meeting on the Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) program on March 15, 2006. The presentation discussed the BPC program and its aims, and reported on the outcomes of the in-person BPC meetings held on March 9-10 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The new program solicitation is now available at http://www.nsf.gov/publications /pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf06540 . Proposals for Alliance and Demonstration Projects are due May 17, 2006.
MARCH 9, 8:30 - 4:30 pm MEETING
A meeting for 2006 BPC Principal Investigators (current PIs, or grant recipients) was held in Atlanta, Georgia. The goals of this meeting were to provide the current PIs and evaluators with opportunities to:
  • Share information about their projects
  • Explore new collaborations and partnerships
  • Hear more about the the mechanics and logistics of running a BPC project
  • Discuss program-wide evaluation in an afternoon workshop for evaluators
In addition, project evaluators met for a workshop on the program wide evaluation.

MARCH 10, 8:00am - 4:30pm MEETING
A kickoff meeting for the 2006 BPC Program – a joint meeting of 2006 BPC PIs, potential PIs, and people committed to broadening participation in computing was held in Atlanta, Georgis. The goals of this meeting were to provide the current PIs with opportunities to:
  • Share information about their projects
  • Explore new collaborations and partnerships
  • Hear more about the the mechanics and logistics of running a BPC project
